Welcome to our new Sports Court. So Tam and Shanley, what was the inspiration for the sports court here in the backyard? So our kids really are athletic and they had always dreamt of something they could do in their backyard. We had the space and then just kind of, it just was just a thought and a dream that became real.
So I reached out to David here and I gave him like a vision. They actually gave us the design for our idea. We thought about what it could be but then once we worked with them in terms of the design, it gave gave us a visual and we just went from there. We thought originally we could have a multi-purpose court and then just added boards, hoops and just it just kept on growing. Like growing up, I was always involved in sports kept me, kept my brothers and sisters busy all the time. I wanted the exact same experience for the kids, just you know, healthy lifestyle. When we first moved in here, we kind of chose this lot, uh big yard we knew that eventually we were going to develop something like this we just didn't know it would turn out like this. Originally when we had this plot, it was just, it was really sloped, this is probably where our kids learned to snowboard and then now we turned it into this big court and they'll be out here quite a bit with their friends now. Did the whole scope or execution of work meet your expectations? Did you think this much dirt was going to come out? Did you think it was this this many people and this much equipment? Kind of give us your thoughts on the whole execution of the job. Yeah the execution was from beginning to end, seamless, we didn't know it was such a huge undertaking. Each day we witnessed more and more dirt. From my perspective I basically saw probably two three trucks a day just being loaded to move out existing dirt and then just they would basically come back within the same time frame and built to be built right back up. It was explained to us it would be a big task but until we we actually saw it it was, we couldn't believe it like how much how much had to go into this.
So not everybody knows how things get built. Once you kind of saw things getting built and the carpentry that goes into the concrete, is that kind of what you had expected or was that kind of new once you saw it get in motion? The intricacies and the complexities of each stage was pretty phenomenal. I think we photographed and you know they're in our memories now but the execution, yeah phenomenal. Timeline is always a big question that we always get asked in advance and as landscapers we always try to avoid answering that accurately, you never know what mother nature is going to give us, but you know on this one here, you know, what was your guys experience with the timeline, with construction, demolition all the way through to the final painting of the court? Yeah it was explained to us that they were going to start the project, the excavation stuff, when when rain wasn't in the forecast and as soon as we had like a gap in that forecast there where they could execute it, it was like all hands on deck, everything got done within that expected timeline so there was no, there was no delays. What was your experience just with how the work was done, yeah the work was intricate and details, but cleanliness day in and day out, you know give us your thoughts on that. I would always come home every day just to see the status of the court and just check for loose pieces, like we still, like we still had half our court back here where the kids could still play so I'm always just checking make sure there's like no nails or like tools that were left and nothing, there's no like, after a week I realized there was no concern it was actually, our yard was probably left every day in a better position than we probably originally had it in, so we're blown away. Yeah we couldn't stop saying how professional it was just top-notch professionalism. I would say I'd go with The Landscape Artist. From our experience it was design to execution, billing and delivery, like everything was on time, on budget, there was no over promises it was actually just, it was actually just over delivery on on the final product for us. Yeah we felt very well taken care of all of our concerns, all of our questions were addressed in a very very supportive caring way and the whole process from beginning to finish was seamless and well thought out and professional. Our house has kind of become the hangout now like, it's, we're just trying to expand our outdoor living area now, I mean the adults can just hang out and do their own thing kids can be down here and they're, we can still visually see them and stuff and still, we can stretch the day now, we can have like a long lunch that leads into dinner, I'm pretty sure in the summertime it'll be a like a pick-up game of hockey or basketball at night, in the winter would probably be a skate, I mean, but we have all that extra time now. So we did some research with some local vendors here and we reached some water suppliers and they said a water truck could fill this rink that we have, which is 50 by 35 four inches to five inches of ice in about 35 minutes. I could do this myself but I'd be standing here for probably 24 hours maybe.
So when we talked about the design with Clayton and David there, they recommended having pickleball lines in the center and laying it over top, it didn't, it wasn't overwhelming it didn't get loud, it actually looks like it fits and pickleball's the fastest growing sport right now uh it's good for all ages so that's why we chose to go with those lines. Pickleball is basically tennis with smaller rackets and a hard rubber ball which doesn't bounce as fast or as high so it's good for all ages it's good for learning hand-eye or just you know getting better hand eye. I'm just learning so he's being a patient and good teacher.
This project was a wish or a dream turned into reality and we wouldn't choose anybody else but The Landscape Artist from you know the first initial consultation to the process of, you know, step by step, the design, keeping us informed each in every way to, to coming into fruition, we just, top-notch and I wouldn't recommend anybody else.
