From a blank slate, this new Aspen backyard design was focused towards the children. The large backyard space was landscaped with artificial grass and included a sports court area with basketball net. The focus was to be able to evolve the backyard space as the kids grow up such as areas where the trampoline site can be converted to a spa space later.

The large patio provides a large outdoor relaxing and entertaining space for the adults as well. The low maintenance curved garden beds were designed into the yard space to provide multiple areas of low maintenance plantings as well as raised garden beds were designed for the family to grow vegetables and sunflowers.

The design focus was for a backyard space for the family. With small children, the family wanted to be able to have small areas for gardening and large play areas with a sandbox and trampoline as well as a sports court for riding toys and sports such as hockey, basketball and more. The yard was designed to have areas that could easily be transitioned in the future for features such as an outdoor spa, fireplace and pergola.

This Aspen backyard space had a unique shape and was just dirt and rock when the family moved in. The original yard had a large space between the back patio door and ground level, so the yard required the design to add a flat patio space with subtle slope on to the artificial grass area. With our typical yard construction, the teams cleaned up every evening to ensure the family and neighbors were not inconvenienced in any way.
