Landscaping: Auburn Bay 001

SE CALGARY - Auburn Bay 001

When we first were approached to help landscape this home in the south-east Calgary community of Auburn Bay there was already a complete landscape in place but it did not suit the needs of the new owners. They wanted to have a new deck with built in spa, an outdoor kitchen, lots of space to play and entertain and generally make the property more useable.

To provide a level area for the gas fire-pit we retained part of the property with Rosetta Stone blocks which are a cultured concrete produce designed to look like natural stone. The new cedar deck to incorporate the spa was dressed up with some cultured stone on the skirt. Roman pavers we used throughout the project for patios and walks. Due to the many surrounding homes we planted many trees to increase privacy and the balance of the property was landscaped with and objective to make it low maintenance.

A Belvedere block patio area and fire pit was carved out of the sloped backyard which is retained by a gradual retaining wall.
