NW Calgary - Bearspaw 001

Overlooking the Rocky Mountains northwest of Calgary, this Bearspaw estate home had both the space and the budget for a stately landscape. It features extensive natural stone walls made from Ontario Armourstone, patios of Cobblestone pavers, and large beds devoted to trees for evergreen texture and wind protection.

The primary design considerations on this project involved dealing with a ground water issue and figuring out how best to retain the slopes created by the home being sited strategically to have a walkout on both sides but higher at the ends creating saddle shaped topography. The large scale of the blocky Armourstone suits the scale of this project and compliments the stone used on the house facade.
