The major focus of this backyard is truly as a Staycation experience. Central to the layout is a fiberglass swimming pool from Pentarm. After experimenting with different models in the design process, the model that suited this application best is the Santa Marta. With dimensions of approximately 8.8m x 3.4m (29’ x11’) it features a flat bottom and tanning ledge for resort inspired lounging. We fitted it with a motorized safety cover, and the equipment is conveniently housed in the detached garage.
The other major component of this project is a large composite deck covered with an aluminum louvered roof pergola. This space acts as a large outdoor room and can be enclosed further by lowering the motorized screens. These screens block wind, enhance privacy, and retain warmth when closed but when raised allow the breeze and light to carry through, especially when the lovers are opened . LED lighting enhances the mood and extends the use into the evening hours.
The deck also extends to incorporate a spa with privacy screen surround. The screens are made from powder coated aluminum and composite materials for many years of trouble-free service. The spa is positioned for easy access in the winter and overlooks the pool to add to the staycation backyard vibe.
This family includes a pair of very active dogs, and the synthetic turf on the pool level and side-yard beside the garage gives them a place to play and the turf adds a splash of green to offset the hardscaping. The pool deck is made from pavers and a contrasting band was incorporated around the pool as an accent. Low maintenance landscaping buttons up the small garden spaces completing this stunning project.
