Backyard Putting Green Ideas
Video Transcript
More and more our clients are looking to add value to their properties, both in terms of resale but also in terms of increased enjoyment of the spaces we create for them. Putting greens are becoming a popular request because golf is a popular sport, and not only will having your own private green impress your friends and get the family outside for a sport all can play, everyone can use a little help with their short game.
The turf used is a professional grade synthetic turf applied over a compacted subgrade similar to how pavers are laid. Contouring is achieved thru careful adjustments to the subgrade resulting in a very realistic putting experience. Green can be made with or without a fringe of contrasting turf which can be used for chipping practise, and the sky is the limit for design possibilities.
In this garden we built for an avid golfer, the landscape includes a pitching area made out of synthetic turf and the surrounding gardens are as low maintenance as possible to allow lots of time for golf. There is no natural turf in this garden. Guests may observe from the adjacent patio or even enjoy a campfire if they tire of the action.
The corner of this property has been entirely given over to putting and if desired, chipping or pitching can be done off the adjacent natural turf lawn, which has been separated from the green with concrete curbing.
The owner of this property loves his green. His only comment when asked what he might do differently was “Next time, I would make it bigger.”
