This Calgary garden that we designed and constructed for this client is on a large lot overlooking a golf course and the Rockies.

The front is showcased by a large, sweeping driveway constructed of stamped concrete, ashler slate pattern in a charcoal color. The color contrast beautifully with the tan tile stone used on the house. Trees and plantings are strategically placed for privacy from the house to the north and in the backyard, they functioned to provide wind protection, privacy and beauty for the pool and entertaining area.

Wind protection is a particular concern on this site while maintaining the view.

The area closest to the house has a spa and dining area adjacent to the pool and pool shed, providing a protected nook for these features. The patio in this area, similar to the front, has been done in a stamped concrete finish ashler slate in a more tan brown tone make a perfect surface around a pool.

In this corner, we built one of the coolest features of this property. A small garden room is part of a structure that houses the pool equipment, change rooms as well as providing a roof covering over an outdoor gas fireplace and outdoor kitchen. The kitchen features a built in grill sink fridge and some storage, so the clients have everything they need to entertain without leaving the pool area. It can function as a cozy space for a smaller gathering or as part of the overall experience, so you have your choice of using the spa, swimming, lounging or dining all in the same area.

It is a great yard for entertaining. The pool is 20 ft by 40 ft, with a motorized cover that secures the pool for safety, as well as retaining heat and keeping out debris so time could be spent enjoying the space or the vistas.
